How does buying from Caring Coffins work?
Rather than buying a coffin from your funeral director, simply let them know you will be supplying the coffin yourself. Choose the product you would like from Caring Coffins, select the correct size, and order. Specify the delivery address, and we will liaise with the funeral director to arrange everything else.
Why should I buy from Caring Coffins rather than a funeral director?
A huge factor is cost. The average UK funeral cost is now over £7,000 and the average coffin is well over £1,000.
Funeral directors also often only have a limited selection of coffins, and rarely any eco-friendly options.
Will there be any issues with supplying my own coffin?
Funeral directors are growing more used to people supplying the coffins themselves, and we are often recommended by them. The Co-operative and Dignity are the largest funeral directors in the UK, and we work with these every week.
All our coffins are supplied with a plyboard base, and so fulfil all crematorium requirements.
Are different size coffins available?
Yes, our coffins are available in a range of sizes, from 5'6" to larger coffins of up to 6'10". If you require a size that isn't on the site, speak to us as we do not list all the dimensions we have
Will my coffin arrive in time?
We appreciate this is a major concern for our customers, and we prefer to deliver the order as soon as possible. Any order placed before 11am Monday to Friday can be dispatched the same day, to arrive the following day (most funeral directors are closed on the weekend, and so we send Friday to arrive Monday).
However, for some regions of Scotland and non-mainland Britain, we cannot guarantee next day delivery. Please call us to discuss if you have any questions.
How much do you charge for shipping?
All of our products are delivered free of charge.
The price you see is inclusive of VAT and delivery and is the final price you pay.
As it is cheaper, will the coffin be inferior quality?
Absolutely not. We take great pride in all of the products we sell and you can be sure our coffins are the highest quality.
Unlike cheaper alternatives, all of our coffins include a sturdy plyboard base, and an luxury waterproof calico lining.
If a coffin doesn't meet our exacting criteria, we will not send it.
Why do Caring Coffins only sell eco-friendly, green coffins?
We believe that green coffins are the best option for our customers and the planet. Our Abaca coffins, Bamboo coffins, Seagrass coffins, Water Hyacinth coffins and Willow coffins are sustainable, bio-degradable, eco-friendly, and suitable for green burials or cremations.
They are strong, attractive, and serene. If a material isn't completely suitable, we simply won't use it.
Are Caring Coffins' coffins suitable for burial and cremation?
All of our coffins are suitable for both burial, cremation and green burials. We include a base and calico lining which are also biodegradable, and suitable for cremation or burial.
Who chooses an eco-coffin?
Everyone and anyone, it isn't simply eco-warriors and 'tree-huggers'! Typically, people who opt for a green coffin are those who enjoy nature, outdoor life, and the environment. Often these are people who enjoy gardening, walking, and wildlife. We speak to many customers who weave plants and flowers through the coffin, to create the link to the nature.
Of course, it is also people seeking a funeral that has less of an environmental impact, as well as those who do not want to pay uneccessary amounts of money for a funeral.
What is Caring Coffins returns policy?
We aim to provide the very best service for our customers. If you are not happy with any of our products, simply return it in the original condition within 14 days, and we will provide a full refund.
If required, we can arrange the return for a small cost.
Do I need a name plate?
We are increasingly seeing crematoriums asking for coffins to have a nameplate, which we can supply. This is not a legal requirement, but we advise to check with the crematorium.
Can I buy a coffin from Caring Coffins if I have a pre-paid funeral?
Certainly. We recommend speaking to your funeral plan provider, to advise them you wish to source a coffin yourself. Once the coffin has been purchased, we will provide an invoice that can be claimed back against your funeral plan.
